Fraser Bird and Josh Even, students at Seashore School in Long Branch, used heat to differentiate the chemical reactions of three different substances, winning a medal for their team in Science Olympiad 2009. They were part of a team of Seashore fifth- and sixth-graders who took first place in two events and second place in three events at the competition, which challenged students' physical and cognitive abilities. The event was held April 22 at Park Middle School in Scotch Plains.
