The Community YMCA and Dreams for Kids are planning a night of basketball at the Hoops for Hope Tournament on Friday, April 26 at Brookdale Community College’s Robert J. Collins Arena in Lincroft.
NFL football greats representing Dreams for Kids will be challenging basketball teams fielded from the community, including Red Bank Police, YMCA members, students from Red Bank Charter School, the Monmouth University women’s basketball team, Red Bank Catholic High School’s varsity girls basketball team and Tormee Construction.
The pros will be signing autographs at a V.I.P. reception from 6-7 p.m., prior to the tournament. The event also includes silent and gift auctions, a 50/50 raffle and community organization booths.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
Proceeds from this family-friendly tournament will support the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign and Lonnie Allgood’s Dreams for Kids. Allgood is a former NFL player who first starred at Red Bank Regional High School.
The FRA PossAbilities Walk and a Day of Sports Play with the Monmouth University Hawks will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 11.
The mile-long walk, which celebrates the abilities and accomplishments of individuals with special needs, will start at 10 a.m. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Registration cost is $15, and $30 for a family of four. Sports activities and lunch will take place after the walk.
