Seashore Day Camp’s Day of Fun set for Feb. 11
LONG BRANCH — Sand sculptors and magicians will be part of the free fun at Seashore Day Camp’s annual Day of Fun on Saturday, Feb. 11, noon to 3 p.m.
John Gruber, a sand sculptor, will teach boys and girls how to build intricate structures in the sand, and award-winning magician R.J. Lewis will present a high-energy magic show to cap the day. Children will have a chance to try new activities slated for Summer 2012 at theDay of Fun, taking place at Seashore’s campuses at 345 Second Ave., 404 Broadway and 410 Broadway, in Long Branch.
The Day of Fun schedule will include climbing to the top of the 28-foot-high treehouse fort and zip-lining 300 feet (weather permitting), swimming in indoor heated pools, wind-surfing simulator, inflatable sports park, iceberg climbing wall, spins on the Rockit, ceramics, jewelry-making, gymnastics, super climber roller-racer obstacle course, cupcake decorating, basketball challenge and more.
In addition, there will be a sneak preview of Theater Camp, which gives aspiring young actors their start “On Broadway.” Lewis’ magic show will take place at 2 p.m. at the 345 Second Ave. campus.
Activities for 3- to 5-year-olds will be held at 345 Second Ave., and for 6- to 12-year-olds at 404 Broadway. There is no obligation to enroll, but parents must stay with their children.
Seashore opened in 1926 as the first day camp in New Jersey and over the past eight decades has grown to become one of the largest day camps in the country, providing innovative recreational activities for approximately 600 boys and girls each year, earning accreditation from the American Camp Association.
