Irish musicians to perform in Sea Bright on June 25

SEABRIGHT — Irish music and culture will fill the auditorium of the Sea Bright Recreation Center at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, when acclaimed musicians Erin Loughran and Sean Farrell take the stage.

The concert, which will feature traditional Irish jigs, reels and ballads, is part of a series of coffee houses benefiting the Claddagh na nGael Traditional Irish Music Education programs and summer camp.

The concert will begin at 1167 Ocean Ave. in Sea Bright and will be immediately followed by an open session for community musicians.

Headliner Loughran, a recent graduate of the Irish WorldAcademy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick, will demonstrate her virtuosity on the fiddle, banjo, tin whistle and bodhran. An “All Ireland Champion” fiddle player, Loughran has won many awards over the years and has shared the stage with musicians such as Paul Brady and The Chieftains.

Appearing with Loughran will be Sean Farrell, a well-respected musician heralding from County Sligo in Ireland, Farrell holds the title of “All Ireland Champion Button Accordion Player.” He is also known for his skill as a guitarist and vocalist.

The Claddagh na nGael is a chapter of the Comhaltas, an international organization dedicated to the continuity of Irish culture.

The Claddagh na nGael summer camp will be held Aug. 1-5 at the Sea Bright Recreation Hall and is one of the projects sponsored by the organization whose motto is “Pass the Tradition to the Next Generation.” In addition to the summer camp and the coffee house series, Claddagh na nGael supports adult Irish language classes, lectures on Irish culture, and an after-school Irish music program for youngsters.
