April is abstract at Art Alliance
”Handsomes and Homes” The themes of theApril how at the Art Alliance of Monmouth County, 33 Monmouth St., Red Bank, are “Surrealism Now” and “Un-Obvious” (abstraction of a common object). This show will include work from members of the Art Alliance.
The window artist is Long Island, N.Y., native Jo- Ellen Trilling, whose haunting, fairytale landscapes, inhabited by costumed animals, manufactured toys and assorted magical beings, invite us into a world humming with a meaning tantalizingly just out of reach. She evokes associations intimate and psychological, sometimes as political as today’s newspaper headlines, always with an innocence of childhood sharpened by the glint of danger.
The Art Alliance is an all-volunteer co-op gallery dedicated to providing exhibition and studio space for area artists. Membership is open to all. All media are represented.
“Time Flies” Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. Learn more at www.artallianceofmonmouth.org.
