Annual Ocean Grove house tour July 16
Two of Ocean Grove’s famous tent homes will be among the stops on the annual self-guided house tour on July 16.
OCEAN GROVE — The Historical Society of Ocean Grove will hold its 42nd annual House Tour on Friday, July 16. The tour is a self-guided walking tour within the seaside Victorian community. The tour will visit up to nine of what are considered the most beautiful and/or historic homes in Ocean Grove as well as two of the wellknown tent homes. Also included will be an inn, a visit to the society’s museum and its living museum, Centennial Cottage. Several of the sites have received the Beersheba Award for Historic Preservation.
Tours begin at 10:30 a.m. from the museum on Auditorium Square and end at 4:30 p.m. Transportation to the tour stops will be available. The tour will be held rain or shine.
Tickets for the house tour will be available at the museum, which is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the tour. Tickets will also be available by mail until July 10. Send check or money order along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to HSOG, P.O. Box 446, Ocean Grove, NJ 07756, or call the museum, 732-774-1869, to order tickers using a MasterCard, Visa or Discover Card. Tickets will be available at Gingerbreads and Smugglers Cove, both on Main Avenue. On the day of the tour, tickets will be available at the museum only, 50 Pitman Ave., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Those interested in the tour are advised to purchase tickets early because the event has sold out in past years. Children under 12 will not be admitted.
