Speak out against off-shore drilling

One would think that 200,000 gallons of oil spewing into the Gulf of Mexico every day would change an opinion. One may also think that this environmental disaster, which has devastated wildlife including birds, oysters, shrimp and fish as well as shutting down the small businesses associated with that wildlife, would change an opinion.

The actual truth is alarming. In spite of this monumental spill, which is set to become the most devastating oil spill in United States history, President Barrack Obama still supports offshore drilling. As a resident of New Jersey and someone who enjoys our shores every summer, I don’t want to wait for the day that I can’t swim in my own state’s beaches because of an oil spill due to offshore drilling. New Jersey residents must show their opposition to Obama’s support of offshore drilling.

Write letters to your state legislators, support local organizations such as Environment New Jersey (http://www.envi ronmentnewjersey.org/), and make your voice heard. If these words don’t change an opinion, thousands like it will.
