County park system celebrates 50 years
As part of its 50th anniversary celebration, the Monmouth County Park System is installing an exhibit highlighting pinnacle moments from the past five decades. The exhibit will be held in the Holmdel Park shelter building, Longstreet Road, Holmdel.
Using a park backdrop, the exhibit features a 3-D tree with photos hanging from its branches. The exhibit will be on display at the Holmdel Park from March 18 through June 7 before moving to Turkey Swamp Park, Freehold Township, for the summer.
Open from 8 a.m. to dusk, the exhibit is just one of the many ways the park system is marking its latest milestone. A tea and talk will be held at 2 p.m. April 25 in the Thompson Park Visitors Center, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. The cost is $6 per person.
Ongoing anniversary offerings include the monthly Photo Challenge, the 50 Miler Trail Challenge, and the 50 Nifty Things to Do in the Parks. Experience 25 of out the 50 “nifty things to do” in the parks and earn a commemorative keepsake.
