BlueClaws’ event for fans with food allergies
The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) and the Allergy and Asthma Support Group of Central New Jersey (AASGCNJ) will host a fundraising event at the June 6 Lakewood BlueClaws’ game at FirstEnergy Park, Lakewood.
In an effort to help protect allergic fans and in honor of all individuals with food allergies, the BlueClaws will have ingredients lists available for every food item sold. That day, all items sold at the concession stands will be peanut- and tree-nut-free. This is the second time the BlueClaws has sponsored a nut-free game and a food-allergy awareness event.
Tickets are $10, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the FAAN Walk for Food Allergy: Moving Toward a Cure in Long Branch, which will be held Sept. 11.
The June 6 game against the Greensboro Grasshoppers will begin at 1:05 p.m. Fans are advised to arrive early since this will also be Kids Expo and Zoo Claws Day, which will feature music, games and more. This day is also Kids Character Sunday and Kids Eat Free Sunday. Mr. RAY, a children’s singer/songwriter, will perform during the seventh-inning stretch and will throw out the first pitch.
The BlueClaws have reserved 400 seats in the same section so fans with Food Allergy- Walk team shirts or banners will have an opportunity to be on the stadium’s live monitor. Seats will be washed down prior to the game to ensure that there will be no food residue.
Tickets must be purchased at least 48 hours in advance. For more information on purchasing tickets, contact Cherí Golub, walk chairperson, at 732-239-8374 or longbranchchair@foodallergy.org.Ticketswill be available for pickup at the stadium’s “will call” window.
