Student "chefs" and their families at the Jewish Community Center in Deal prepared a meal for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Long Branch. The Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home to families of seriously ill children receiving medical treatment at area hospitals. Jersey Shore Rose Society will meet 1:30-3:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at t he Hamilton First Aid Building, 3600 Route 33, Neptune. A beginners clinic conducted by consulting rosarians will be held 12:30-1:30 p.m. Pat Bilson will follow, and he will discuss rose arrangements. For meeting information, call 732-688-4282. "Entrances and Exits" is on display at Terner House Gallery, 601 Deal Road, Ocean. The exhibit features artwork by Ocean Township residents and is sponsored by the Township of Ocean Cultural Committee. Artists both professional and amateur have a chance to exhibit work in two rooms of the mansion, and the exhibits are changed every six weeks. Amiri Baraka, poet, scholar, activist, professor and founder of the 1960's Black Arts Movement, will kick off the 2nd Annual Kwanzaa Celebration at Frank Talk Art Bistro & Books in Red Bank, 1-3 p.m. on Dec. 27. Frank Talk, located at 163 Shrewsbury Ave, in Red Bank, is a storefront that supports artists, writers, musicians and poets. Baraka will read from his new work and there will be discussion and a book signing. Admission is $20.
