The Ocean Dolphins, a U14 girls soccer team from Ocean Township, are state champions, defeating the Harrison Heat 1- 0 in the finals Nov. 1 at Mercer County Park. The winning goal was scored by Shannon Groffie, assisted by McKayla Conti.

On their way to the finals, the girls defeated the Torpedoes 3-1 in the quarter finals and the Somerset Hills Wildcats 2-1.

The Dolphins are coached by Barb Cowley with trainer Darren Spurrier. The Dolphins are: from Ocean, Maeve Cowley, Caroline Price, Rosa Franze and McKayla Conti; from Neptune, Alyssa Pojero; from Marlboro, Francesca DeNicola; from Toms River, Shannon Groffie; from Shrewsbury, Rebecca Losch and Grace Fallon; from Howell, Taylor Gantor; from Jackson, Samantha Sorrentino; from Middletown, Julia DeSanctis, Amanda Caballero and Danielle Matassa; from Holmdel, ZuZu Cooper; from Lacy, Morgan O'Leary; and from Manalapan, Katie Menza.
