Locals star in 'Ragtime The Musical,' Oct. 17, 18
      Cabaret for Life (CFL) and Monmouth Civic Chorus (MCC) will present "Ragtime The Musical" at 8 p.m. on Oct. 17 and at 2 p.m. on Oct. 18 at Axelrod Performing Arts Center, 100 Grant Ave., Deal. The concert will feature a full orchestra and more than 100 voices.

Duathlon slated for Oct. 10 on Sandy Hook
      The Women's Council for the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, will present Duathlon 2009 Ready … Set … Cure, 8 a.m. Oct. 10 at Sandy Hook. The event will feature a 15k bike, 5k run/walk and 15k bike. It is suitable for men, women and children age 14 and older. Fees are $150 per person and $200 per team (bike or runner).

Open house at Ranney School Oct. 10
      Ranney School, Tinton Falls, will be holding its first open house of the year 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 10.
