      Mended Hearts to meet Oct. 22 at center
            The Mended Hearts support organization of heart patients, their families, health professionals and other interested individuals will meet at noon Oct. 22 in room B104- 05 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. A light lunch will be served at the free meeting. Reservations are required and may be made by calling 800- 362-8677.

            The Jersey Shore Parents, Friends & Families of Lesbians & Gays (PFLAG) will sponsor the presentation "Bias, Prejudice and Stereotypes Directed at the LGBTI Community" at 1 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Monmouth County Library Eastern Branch, 1001 Route 35, Shrewsbury.

      Flu clinic for Long Branch residents Oct. 3
            Long Branch Health Department and Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey (VNA) will hold a flu immunization clinic 9 a.m.-noon Oct. 3 at Long Branch Middle School, Indiana and Bath Avenues. The vaccine is for seasonal flu only and will be available for residents 18 and older.

      Livestrong Day at center Oct. 2
            The Wellness Community — The Diney Goldsmith Center, Eatontown, will present a Livestrong Day: A Taste of Wellness at 10 a.m. on Oct. 2. The free event for cancer survivors will feature programs such as "Welcome to Wellness," yoga, qi gong and guided imagery. Livestrong Day was created by Lance Armstrong and is celebrated on the day of his original cancer diagnosis.
