      Atomic Rain looks sharp, poised for run at Haskell
            With the $1 million Haskell Invitational just a few weeks away, Atomic Rain looks to be ready to make a run at Monmouth Park's showcase event. After finishing 16th in the Kentucky Derby, 31½ lengths behind Mine That Bird, Atomic Rain came back home to Monmouth, and on June 6 won an allowance race and looked good doing it.

            Sky Blue FC Soccer has designated July 19 as a special Faith Day, featuring a game against the Chicago Red Stars, a free concert by the New Jersey rock band Justpassingthru, and guest speakers. The festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Yurcak Field, Rutgers University, Piscataway.

      Shore A.C. wins men's, combined USATF titles
            The Shore Athletic Club rules. The West Long Branch-based club captured the combined team championship at the USA Track and Field Club Championships held at Icahn Stadium in New York City on July 10-12 The Shore A.C. won the men's championship by more than 100 points, completely outclassing the field. They rolled up 199 points, 111 more than runnerup ConnQuest (88).
