      SummerHeat Tournament returns to baseball tradition
      Switch to wood bats takes game full circle
            The Fair Haven SummerHeat Tournament returned to the roots of baseball by switching to wood bats for this year's tournament. "There is a general movement in the baseball community about going back to wood bats," said tournament co-director Mark Kelly. "Wood bats enhance and highlight the technique that is needed to be a good hitter.

      Aerials Gymnastics team takes 3rd at finals
            Aerials Gymnastics, Eatontown, finished the season with a big win at States. Not only did the A Team finish third out of 35 teams statewide, they had six individual state champions. Sue Sarafian, owner of Aerials, credits talented gymnasts and highly skilled, dedicated coaches. Dave Kuhla and Stephanie Pryor coach the A Team.

      Mary's Follies tops the field in Boiling Springs
            Mary's Follies closed resolutely along the rail in the stretch to score an upset victory in the $150,000 Boiling Springs Stakes (G3) at Monmouth Park on Saturday. The 3-year-old daughter of More Than Ready, trained by John Forbes and ridden by Stewart Elliott, went off as the fourth choice in the field of eight fillies and paid $15.40, $8.20 and $5.80 across the board.
