Nancy Keagle, MSW, Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Social Worker of the Year (center), is congratulated by Mary Ann Christopher (l), president and CEO of VNA, and Barbara Smith, manager of Community Care Alternative programs at VNA in Red Bank.
Keagle, of Long Branch, has been a VNA social worker for 15 years and has provided case management services for many of VNA's most vulnerable clients on Medicaid Waiver Programs and HIV Home Care. She provides clients who may be facing a personal or family crisis with supportive counseling, helpful resources and direction in times of need.
A free presentation on attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and learning disabilities will be presented by the nonprofit Monmouth County Wellness Education Center, 236 Second Ave., Long Branch, 7 p.m. June 29. Participants will learn whether hyperactivity and learning disabilities are "mental disorders" or symptoms of untreated physical conditions that can be corrected. The Women's Council for the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical Center will hold the "Power of Pink" luncheon 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 9 at the Fort Hancock Chapel and grounds, Sandy Hook. The honoree is Dr. Andrew Elkwood, section chief of plastic and reconstructive surgery at Monmouth Medical Center. The guest speaker will be Andrea Jung, chairman and CEO of Avon Products. A benefit for local blues musician Billy Lilley, of Billy's Blues Day, will take place 2-9 p.m. July 26 at Paul's Tavern, 1705 Main St., South Belmar. Lilley, Asbury Park, is being treated for liver cancer, and the benefit will help offset medical costs. The benefit will feature blues groups such as Bobby Burtelson, and The Nighthawks, a 50/50 and silent auction. Cost is $25 per person. The Boardwalk Relay Against Hunger to benefit the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties will take place Sept. 26 on the boardwalk in Asbury Park. Check-in is 7:30 a.m., followed by the run 8:30 a.m. Teams of one- to three-individuals will run in three legs of 5 kilometers for a total distance of 15 kilometers.
