The M Shanghai String Band will perform in concert 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Central Baptist Church, Third and East Highland avenues in Atlantic Highlands. The concert by the Brooklynbased, roots/bluegrass band is sponsored by the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council.

Monmouth Players will present "Stranger Things Have Happened, An Evening of One Acts" at the Navesink Library Theater at the corner of Sears and Monmouth avenues in the Navesink section of Middletown. Roger McGuinn Roger McGuinn Tom Wilczewski of Long Branch won First Place in the Watercolor category at the 46th Annual Sister Kenny Rehabilitation Institute's Art Show in Minneapolis. This exhibit is international in scope with 183 artists submitting over 300 works of art. His watercolor entitled "Carl's Place" earned the top prize. See his work at www.tomwilczewski.com.

Monmouth University's Performing Arts Series will present Roger McGuinn and John Sebastian at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 2, in Pollak Theatre at the West Long Branch campus. A co-founder of The Byrds with Gene Clark and David Crosby, McGuinn has had groundbreaking hits and endures

as one of the

world's most influential folk-rock guitarists. Sebastian

An American premiere will close the 60th anniversary season of the award-winning

Monmouth Civic Chorus. In honor of the chorus's diamond anniversary, Three Choral Diamonds is the theme of the performance at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 3 at the Count Basie Theatre, 99 Monmouth St., Red Bank. A full orchestra will join the chorus for the U.S. premiere of "Sphaera" by Guillaume Connesson; Karol Szymanowski's "Stabat Mater," and Felix Mendelssohn's "Tu Es Petrus" (You are my Rock).

Registration is now open for the Summer Music Workshops at the Monmouth Conservatory of Music, 50 White St., Red Bank. Workshops meet from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, for oneweek sessions, July 6-10 or 13-17. Magic Keys is an introduction to music for ages 4 to 6; Music Camp singing and instrument experiences for ages 6 to 8; Strings Camp for beginner to intermediate level stringed instrument players, or Vocal Camp for ages 10 to 16.
