LONG BRANCH — Children from the Seashore School of Visual and Performing Arts in Long Branch filled the streets of Red Bank last month during a holiday concert event.

On Nov. 29, kindergarten through intermediate students, with the help of Seashore's instrumental teacher Dan Rachmelowitz (aka Sax Man Dan) and his sound system, delivered a performance from the steps of the Children's Cultural Center on Monmouth Street.

The performance was part of the "Holiday Harmonies" event, which brought together traditional carolers, choirs, brass bands, rock, folk, and jazz and blues musicians.

Opening with a rendition of "Do You Hear What I Hear," seventh-grade twins Elizabeth and Emily Howson harmonized with a chorus of younger students, including Matt Viana and Casey and Matt DeStefano.

Also rocking the crowd were sixthgraders Joelle Rosen and Brianna Napoli, who sang Ashley Tisdale's version of "All I Want for Christmas."

"We chose Ashley Tisdale's version of the song because she started out at the Seashore School just like us," the two students said.

And then, students sang "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," led by sixthgrader Jaxon Terrell and his second-grade counterpart Collin Roach. "Jingle Bell Rock" was also sung by third-grader Cee Jay Schnoor and second-grader Alix Knice.

"It was an amazing experience," said Rachmelowitz, who is the owner of an entertainment company. "The energy the kids brought to their performance was the kind of thing you would expect to see in New York."
