Mrs. Jowers, 77, died Nov. 15, 2008, at Gateway Care Center, Eatontown. She was a retired employee of Fort Monmouth, Eatontown. She was predeceased by her husband, Theron Jowers; two sisters, Lillie Mae Newman and Francis Newman-Crudup; and four brothers, John Newman, Grayland Newman, Donald Newman and Alvin Newman. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William "Billy" and Ronda Jowers of Blackwood; a daughter, Debra Jowers of California; a sister, Georgia Newman-McCaskill; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Caldwell and Doris Newman of Toms River, Lanzy and Etta Newman of Jonesboro, Ga., and James Newman of Long Branch; and two grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Trinity A.M.E. Church, Long Branch. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. Arrangements were by James H. Hunt Funeral Home, Asbury Park.
