      Mon. U. men's soccer clinches NEC tourney spot
            The Monmouth University men's soccer team clinched a berth in the 2008 Northeast Conference Tournament on Friday when they played Quinnipiac to a scoreless draw in Hamden. They then went one step further on Sunday, defeating Central Connecticut State, 2- 1 in double overtime, to clinch the regular-season championship and the top seed in the NEC tournament.

      Harriers advance in state x-country
            It was a good weekend for the area cross country teams. Red Bank Regional, Rumson-Fair Haven and Shore Regional each had their boys and girls teams qualify for this Saturday's NJSIAA State Group Championships at Holmdel Park.
