      FCS thrift boutique moves to new location
            Family & Children's Service (FCS) thrift boutique has moved to 307 Branchport Ave., Long Branch. The shop sells new and gently used designer clothing, and home goods. Donations may be made during store hours. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; noon-7 p.m. Wednesday; and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.

      Flu shots to be given at center Oct. 16
            Wayside Retirement Center, 1211 W. Park Ave., Wayside section of Ocean Township, will provide flu shots to the public 11 a.m.-2 p.m. today. There is no charge for Medicare recipients, and charge is $25 for all others. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call the center at 732-493-3096.

      East Village Opera, musical slated at MU
            The East Village Opera Company will perform 8 p.m. Oct. 16 at Monmouth University (MU), West Long Branch. The Company is a five-piece band, string quartet and two vocalists. The group performs on guitars, drums and keyboards, and has toured worldwide.

      MCC Theater presents 'Breaking Legs'
            "Breaking Legs," a comedy involving successful mobsters, a beautiful daughter and a college professor, will be presented by the Performing Arts Department of Middlesex County College for four performances this fall. Held at the New Studio Theater in the College Center on the Edison campus, "Breaking Legs" will be presented at 8 p.m. Oct. 16, 17 and 18 and at 2 p.m.

      MU nursing school celebration Oct. 17
            Monmouth University's Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies will hold a gala to mark the 25th anniversary of the first graduating class from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in 1983, and the 10th anniversary of its first Master of Science in Nursing class of 1998.

      Deadline for Rock'n Music Idol Oct. 17
            The entry deadline for Rock'n Music Idol 2008-09 is Oct. 17. The statewide talent search is for musicians age 7-17 in the categories of guitar, bass, drums, keys/piano, vocals, and vocals/instrument. Contestants will audition and be judged based on style, originality, and technique.
