Police, borough workers should be town's top priority
It looks like Monmouth Beach officials are bypassing the people who perform the necessary functions in town — the police department, which is asking for something that is fair, and the borough workers, who deserve a new contract.
Why is this group of officials, especially the mayor, intent on spending the taxpayers' money on redoing the pavilion, which is an eight-week deal? The pavilion is used by many towns, but our borough workers, who help the townspeople, and the cops, who answer all calls in town to help the taxpayers, had to hire a lawyer just to honor their contract.
I think the time has come for all taxpayers to cry out and call the officials and let them know what comes first. We need the services of both in town; we don't need to spend thousands on the beach club, which is overboard already after years of neglect by the officials.
I have lived here 40 years and I know what is more important—so should the elected officials. Call and tell them so.
