MU selected for 'Best 368 Colleges'

Monmouth University has been selected as one of the nation's best institutions for undergraduate education by the Princeton Review, New York City. The education services company features the college in its 2009 edition of "The Best 368 Colleges."

The publication includes only 15 percent of the nation's 2,500 four-year colleges, and two Canadian colleges. Colleges receive two-page profiles along with student survey-based ranking lists of the top 20 colleges in more than 60 categories. Schools are chosen primarily for outstanding academics.

In the profile on Monmouth, quotes from students include that Monmouth is big enough to qualify as "a diverse school with good academics, recognized extracurriculars, and impressive athletics," yet small enough that "students really get to build great academic relationships with their professors and get the attention and education that they need and deserve." Standout departments chosen include communication, business, education, music, criminal justice, and pre-medical sciences.

The ranking lists are based on an 80- question survey of 120,000 students attending the 368 colleges in the book. The lists include categories such as best professors, administration, and campus food to student body political leanings, race/class relations, and sports interests.
