Visual Innovations
"Breaking Out" A collection of mixed media works by Rumson artist E. Michael Horn is at the West Long Branch Public Library.
"Visual Innovations" will run through Aug. 29 at the library, located at 95 Poplar Ave.
The show is a collection of his recent studio work, which is focused on his characterization of current lifestyles that elevates common objects to art forms and is a commentary on our throwaway society. An essential element of Horn's creative process is his poetic sense of humor.
Horn studied at the University of Hawaii, the Brooklyn Museum Art School, and the Rhode Island School of Design. He has worked as a graphic designer and art director for companies and agencies throughout the New York tri-state area. His creative approach has lately been influenced and inspired by the post- impressionists and artists such as Calder, Hess and Rauschenberg.
Hours at the library are Monday through Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The exhibit is sponsored by Friends of the West Long Branch Public Library. For information, call the library phone at 732-222-5993.
