Talk show hosts show little tolerance for dissenting views

Some talk show hosts can bemore dangerous than 9/11 terrorists because they will not tolerate dissenting views.

Judy and Dennis on radio 101.5 FM were lambasting universal, affordable health care. Particularly, they were lambasting presidential candidate Barack Obama, and America's "socialism" in general.

I made the following comments before Dennis abruptly cut me off the air:

• Why do you stop at universal, affordable health care?

• You drove to work on "socialized, universal" roads

• You feel safe because of "socialized, universal" police services

• You were educated in "socialized, universal" public and private schools - and this includes esteemed institutions like Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Rutgers and Brookdale

• You fly safely because of "socialized, universal" Federal Air Traffic Control

• You eat most foods safely because of "socialized, universal" Food and Drug Administration inspections.

In America, none of us can survive by ourselves alone. So why not "socialized, universal" health care? Maybe because those who have don't care about those who have not. After the PearlHarbor attack,my father and two brothers - products of America's segregation - volunteered and served in the military. If it had not been for them and millions of others, Hitler would have won the war - and many of us would have been tree ornaments, lampshades and fertilizer. Yet, some talk show hosts would deny them "socialized, universal" health care.

If these talk show hosts want to be a part of the democratic solution (rather than be a part of the terroristic problem), they should promote and help achieve that which truly makes us "of the people, by the people and for the people." And don't stop at health care for all.
