      School budget passes by margin of 6 votes
            LONG BRANCH - The $83.6 million school district spending plan was approved by voters at the polls last by a margin of six votes. The passage of the budget marks the first time in five years that Long Branch voters supported the spending plan, according to Long Branch Superintendent of Schools Joseph M. Ferraina.

      Residents reject $10M school spending plan
            WEST LONG BRANCH - Borough voters have struck down the $10 million school district spending plan at polls last week for the second consecutive year. Residents defeated the budget by a margin of 11 votes, with 457 residents voting against the spending plan and 446 residents voting in favor of it.

            EATONTOWN - Borough voters rejected the $21 million school spending plan at polls last week for the third consecutive year. The 2008-09 school budget was defeated by a margin of 89 votes, with 377 residents voting against the plan and 288 voting in favor of it at the polls on April 15.

            OCEAN TOWNSHIP - The Township Council is expected to review the school district's $64.3 million spending plan that was defeated by voters last week by a margin of 64 votes. The 2008-09 school budget, which called for residents to raise a tax levy of $50.
