      Fear of open, public debate in Long Branch
            Some people are so intimidated by their First Amendment rights and the prospect of an open, transparent government that participates in and encourages healthy debate that they think a Nixonian approach to controlling information is the best way.

      Forum misrepresentations are a disservice
      (Open letter to Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider)
            Just want to take a moment to express my concern about what I believe was a significant misrepresentation in regard to the recent forum presented by Mr. Brian Unger. As you know, I sit on the board of a local nonprofit organization, the Long Branch Concordance. Our executive director, Darcy Dobens, was asked to participate in one of the panel discussions at this forum.

      Media focus should be on veterans, not celebrities
            With America entering the sixth year of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, our television news, which includes CBS, ABC, NBC as well as their cable affiliates, mentions the number of dead, which recently hit 4,000, but fails to report the plight of the thousands of wounded, some critically, lying in military and veterans hospitals.

      Takanassee plan a 'charm offensive' by developer
            Attorney Jerry Zaro's claim that his client Isaac Chera could have demolished all of the buildings at the Takanassee Beach Club is patently false. The original plan was to have all the buildings demolished, and that plan was not approved by the N.J. Department of Environmental Protection.
