      Residents must help maintain neighborhood
            On Feb. 13, residents of Ocean Avenue north attended the City Council meeting to communicate to the council members our disapproval of Strollo's Lighthouse outdoor food establishment from moving to our residential block. We highlighted the negative conditions that would impact all of the residents and visitors of Seven Presidents Beach Park.

      Find way to keep Cocoa Puffs in Long Branch family
            Ihave met the miniature horse Cocoa Puffs, and he is a very sweet horse. If anyone has ever rescued an animal, they would understand the bond the Owens have with Cocoa Puffs. Kathi and Bruce Owens want the city of Long Branch to allow them to keep Cocoa Puffs on their property though a city ordinance says they would need one full acre of land to do so.

      Fellow horse owner worried about local rescue horse
            As a horse owner and lover, my first reaction was to support this couple and their desire to keep their "pet," but as I read the story it raised several concerns. First, though Cocoa Puffs seems small and cute, he is not a dog. He a horse, and horses should not be considered pets. They have very specific needs.

            As we experience the end of a mild winter, thoughts of spring and summer do not linger far behind. The days grow longer, nature comes alive around us and summer plans begin to take shape. Summer provides an opportunity for us to share the sights and sounds of our community with others less fortunate.
