      Shore Conf. hoops tourney action heating up
      Boys and girls finals scheduled for Saturday night
            This year's Shore Conference Basketball Tournament certainly has its share of local flavor. With a pair of local girls teams advancing to the semifinals, along with one local boys team, local high school hoops fans may very well have someone to cheer for once again during Saturday's boys and girls finals a the Ritacco Center in Toms River.

      L.B.'s Johnson leads parade of champions
            Since splitting their races at the Monmouth County and Shore Conference championships, sprinters Damier Johnson of Long Branch and Michael Peavey ofNeptune have gone their separate ways and collected state titles. A week ago it was the NJSIAA Central Jersey state sectionals, and last weekend, the State Groups.

      Regional Commission mandates drastic reduction
            Time is running out for New Jersey recreational anglers. Just when fishing seemed to be healthy in all categories, theAtlantic StatesMarine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) mandates a reduction in blackfish by almost 26 percent. On March 7, New Jersey has 60 days in which to come up with a plan agreed by ASMFC or the fishery will be shut down.

      Clemens' testimony ends up being a waste of time for all
            It's been a week now since Roger Clemens sat before members of Congress to plead his innocence in the face of Brian McNamee's accusations that he injected the baseball great with steroids.
