           Park Players will present the feminist comedy "Parallel Lives," written by Mo Gaffney and Kathy Najimy, of the popular "Kathy and Mo Show," at the historic Paramount Theatre. Samantha Beedle and Diana Limon, directed by Robert Bradshaw, will portray over 50 characters in a series of scenes that comment on many aspects of womanhood, sexuality and relationships. Performances are Aug. 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Aug. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre, 1300 Ocean Ave. on the Asbury Park Boardwalk. Tickets are $20, $10 for seniors and students.       Franco Minervini completing project for police foundation
            When Franco Minervini was a young boy in his hometown of Molfetta, Italy, he helped his grandfather, Michael, who was a stone carver. Little did he know then that he would continue his family's tradition of stone carving. "I didn't think I had any tal ent," said Minervini, whose studio has been in Freehold Township for 30 years.

      Jazz concert to benefit open space preservation
            Acclaimed jazz singer and guitarist John Pizzarelli will perform in a concert benefiting the land preservation efforts of The Monmouth Conservation Foundation Friday, Aug. 24, at 8 p.m. at the Two River Theater in Red Bank. A cocktail reception beginning at 6:30 p.m. will precede the concert.
