      Take me out to Baseball Day
            Baseball takes the stage as the Two River Theater Company in Red Bank partners with Fameabilia to host Baseball Day on Sunday, Aug. 12, noon to 5 p.m. This unique and fun-filled afternoon celebrating America's favorite pastime includes special guest appearances by Brooklyn Dodgers player Johnny Podres, David Kaplan of the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center, and Edward R.

      Senior artists recognized
            Winners of the Monmouth County Senior Citizen Juried Art Contest were recognized at a reception and awards ceremony at Monmouth County Library Headquarters, Manalapan, last month. Winners received first-, second- and third-place, and honorable mention ribbons. Photos of the winning artwork are posted on the county's Web site, www.visitmonmouth.com/aging.

      Uncommon 'Reflections' on the mundane
            The Monmouth Museum is presenting the second installation in the New Jersey Emerging Artists Series in its Nilson Gallery. Paul Lenz of Colts Neck, the second artist in the series, will show his photographs in an exhibit titled "Reflections" opening Friday and running through Sept. 9. An opening reception will be held 6-8 p.m.

            First Avenue Playhouse is presenting the third installment in its summer series of plays by Neil Simon, "Broadway Bound." The autobiographical plays revolve around Eugene, Stanley and the rest of the Jerome household. In "Broadway Bound," Eugene and Stanley are trying to break into show business as writers, using their family as source material.

      Two guys paint the towns
            The Terner House Galleries, an Ocean Township community arts project, will feature as its second exhibit the paintings of Jim Ferrier of Avon and Bob Herbert of Neptune. The show, "Local Scenes by Two Local Guys," includes oil and watercolor scenes of charming places like the Spring Lake bridge, Sickles Farm in Little Silver and the Shark River.

      International star in summer concert
            International singing star and traditional cantor Dudu Fisher will perform a one-night- only summer concert Sunday, Aug. 19, at 8 p.m. at Congregation Brothers of Israel, 250 Park Ave. in Elberon. The program will consist of Hebrew, English, cantorial and Broadway music.

      Long Branch Jazz & Blues fest lineup
            The talent lineup for the upcoming 2007 Long Branch Jazz and Blues Festival has been announced. The event takes place Saturday, Sept. 1, from 1-10 p.m., on the Great Lawn at the Long Branch Promenade. The festival is produced by the Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation (JSJBF) and presented by the city of Long Branch.

      Art off the wall (& out of the saloon)
            An exhibition opening at the Art Alliance of Monmouth County in Red Bank today by Wayne Turback is his first since selling the South Amboy bar where for many years he had a venue for his paintings and assemblages. "The bar was my gallery pretty much," said Turback, a member of the Art Alliance. "I showed my own work and other artists there for 25 years.
