The Wellness Community has received a generous gift that will benefit Monmouth and Ocean County residents who are living with cancer.

The Freed Foundation of Washington, D.C., has donated $30,000 to The Wellness Community - The Diney Goldsmith Center in Eatontown.

The mission of The Wellness Community is to help people affected by cancer enhance their health and well-being through participation in professional programs of emotional support, education and hope. All programs are provided free of charge.

"The gift by The Freed Foundation is not only generous, it is a vote of confidence in our support programs," said Ilene Winters, executive director of the Northern Jersey Shore Chapter."

The Wellness Community - The Diney Goldsmith Center, located at 613 Hope Road, opened its doors May 15.
