      Bulldogs get second shot at Shore tomorrow
      Show their strength in win over Ocean Township
            You'll have to excuse the Rumson-Fair Haven girl's lacrosse players if they've been looking ahead to tomorrow's scheduled game. You see, the Bulldogs have looked like an elite team all season, with just one slip-up on their resume. That loss came at the hands of the Shore's top-ranked team, Shore Regional. Since that time, the Bulldogs have been playing like a team on a mission.

      Matera, Behan inspire young Brookdale squad
      Baseball team is ranked No. 6 in the country
            Brookdale Community College's young baseball team couldn't have asked for two better leaders than sophomores Paddy Matera and Joe Behan. They are the embodiment of college baseball and have been the heart and soul of the 26-10 Blues, who are headed toward another Garden State Athletic Conference crown.

      Scannapieco gets overdue NJCAA Hall of Fame nod
            Bo Scannapieco hasn't had time to reflect on his latest milestone - induction into the National Junior College Athletic Association Hall of Fame. He's been too busy trying to lead his Brookdale Community College women's softball team back to the national championships for a 12th consecutive year.

      Blues are ranked No. 5 in the country
            Slowly, but ever so surely, everything is falling into place for the Brookdale Community College women's softball team. The worst spring that head coach Bo Scannapieco can recall, combined with one of his youngest squads, produced some inconsistencies early in the season that have recently been ironed out.

      Crummy weather has led to a lull in fishing
            Unfortunately, there has not been much action offshore due to last week's storm. Mackerel have not been spotted offshore, leaving party boats still making trips for ling and keeping their eyes open in hopes of spotting those monster schools of mackerel.

      Sports Shorts
            USP Soccer Academy will hold Summer Select Soccer Tryouts on Saturday for girls ages U8, U10, and U12. Tryouts will be held from 2-4 p.m. at Monmouth Park soccer fields in Oceanport. USP Soccer Select is a two-month (June and July) program designed to provide players a competitive level of training and play.
