      Late-game steals seal RBC's win over Rumson
      Defense dominates in 34-31 triumph
            In keeping with the topsy-turvy world that is Shore Conference girls basketball this winter, Red Bank Catholic and Rumson-Fair Haven proved that very little separates the best teams. Three teams (RBC, Rumson and Neptune) have taken their turn as the top team in the Shore during the season, and a fourth, St. John Vianney, threw its hat into the ring by beating two of them.

      Falcons, Cox brothers have golden day at MOC
      Charles wins 400; Monmouth boys break 4x400 record

            Monmouth Regional opponents learned the hard way that no lead is safe in the 4x400 relay. When Chris Cox was handed the baton for the third leg of the NJSIAA Indoor Meet of Champions 4x400 Sunday, the Golden Falcons were back in fifth place and some 20 meters behind Trenton Central, the State Group IV champions.

            Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School gradutae Bryan Heller hopes to put an exclamation point on his college career this weekend, wrestling in the Big 10 Championships, in an effort to advance to the NCAA championships for a second time.

      Get out your gear, it's time to catch stripers
            Are you ready? Today marks opening day for striped bass season in the garden state. Local bait and tackle shops through the state are holding annual striped bass contests - contests such as "guess when and where the first bass will be landed." Other contests include some nice size gift certificates for the first and or largest fish taken for the day.

            The Red Bank Parks and Recreation is co-hosting an adult co-ed softball league (slow pitch) set to begin April 15, which will run for nine weeks. You can sign up a full team of 14 players or as an individual to be placed onto a team. Games to be played at Count Basie Park in Red Bank from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sunday afternoons. The deadline to reserve a spot in the league is March 15.
