            Letter to NJ Supreme Court chief justice : As a citizen of the United States and a resident of New Jersey, I would like to express my opinion on our New Jersey eminent domain laws and how they are being interpreted by the courts.

      Help with heating bills is available
            As the winter brings bone-chilling temperatures, it's important to remember that many of us cannot afford the seasonal increases in heating costs. For many families, heating their home is becoming more and more difficult every year. According to an October study from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, energy costs are soaring at a rate of 47.5 percent a year.

      Legislators must act to stop horse slaughter
            Anyone who has ever loved a pet or admired a beautiful animal mourned the loss of Kentucky Derby champion Barbaro, who lost his valiant battle on Jan. 29. But other horses are still suffering, and they don't have loving owners to watch over them. More than 100,000 are hauled across the country each year and cruelly slaughtered for human consumption overseas.

      Unfunded tax relief a false program
            After reading the details on the proposed tax relief package, I do not understand how this proposal can be funded. The plan calls for tax relief in the amount of $2,000 for most N.J. residents. Granted the existing rebate of about $350 per household would help partially fund the new $2,000 tax reduction.
