City tries hard to block advocates for homeowners

Why is the city fighting so hard to deny working-class homeowners their legal advocates?

The attempt to stop a public interest law firm from representing the homeowners failed. Now, the Public Advocate’s support for the homeowners is being challenged.

By every measure, every poll, the public is overwhelmingly against taking private property to give to private developers. Is it any wonder, then, that the “Public” Advocate would take the side of homeowners fighting to keep their homes from being given to wealthy, powerful, private developers? The city’s legal bills are being paid for by the developers.

Fortunately, in this country and state, there are legal advocates for people who can’t afford to fight such forces. David can still fight Goliath! Let’s keep it that way.
