      Man assaulted, robbed near apartments

      OCEAN TOWNSHIP - Police received a report that a resident returning home from work in the township was assaulted and robbed on June 6 at about 9:45 p.m.

      Ocean Township Police Officer Trevor Dickerson was on patrol in the area of the West Park Manor apartments off West Park Avenue when he observed three young men walking along Raleigh Court East in the complex, police said.

      The officer noticed that one of the young men had what appeared to be fresh facial injuries, so he stopped to investigate. The victim said he had just left work at a local restaurant and was going to his apartment. cutting through a path in the woods near a wholesale club on Route 35.

      The victim reported that as he walked his bicycle through the parking lot, he saw four young men standing near the fence drinking beer. The victim passed the four men without incident and continued toward his apartment. But when he stopped to get on his bicycle, one of the four men grabbed him and pulled him off the bicycle demanding his money.

      According to police, all four men than assaulted him and took property from him before fleeing on foot.

      The four men are describe as black males in their 20's with thin builds. One of the attackers was wearing an orange colored shirt and had braids.

      The victim was treated at the scene for minor cuts and bruises on his face by members of the Oakhurst First Aid Squad.
