'Visual Experiments' at W.L.B. Public Library

"Why Am I - Artist?""Why Am I - Artist?" An exhibit of work by Long Branch artist Kathleen E. Lo Pinto Vignolini will be at the West Long Branch Public Library through June 30.

"Visual Experiments" includes abstract, nonobjective, and representational oil paintings and water colors.

The intent of her work is to explore the endless possibilities, by experimenting with and manipulating the medium and/or its surface.

"I view myself as an experimental artist. Like a scientist, I pose questions when I have an idea that I want to try," she said in an artist's statement. "First I wonder, 'Can this be done?' Then I ask, 'Can I do this?' When I decide to give it a try, I begin to consider, 'How will I accomplish this?' "

Lo Pinto Vignolini is a member and exhibitor of juried shows at the Art Alliance of Monmouth County, an art show juror and an award winner for work at the Alliance and elsewhere.

She is a substitute teacher in the West Long Branch primary and middle schools for subjects, including art.

Hours at the West Long Branch Library are 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
