William L. Reilly

Mr. Reilly, of Ocean Township, died May 24 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township. Born in County Monaghan, Ireland, he had lived in Freehold before moving to Ocean Township in 1998. Mr. Reilly was chief carpenter at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, New York City, where he was employed from 1955 until his retirement in 1996. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, West End, a former communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, and a member of Freehold Council No. 1672 Knights of Columbus. Mr. Reilly is survived by his wife, Frances McCarron Reilly; a son, Brian Reilly of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three daughters, Julie Reilly of Wrightstown, Frances Reilly-Jacobus of Cream Ridge, and Patricia Bodnar of Heidelberg, Germany; and six grandchildren. Jay W. Ross

Mr. Ross, 90, of Monmouth Beach, died June 2 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y, he had resided in Monmouth Beach since 1932. Mr. Ross was a builder, developer and philanthropist in Monmouth Beach. In 2000, his efforts helped save the U.S. Life-Saving Station on Ocean Avenue. He donated funds for a new Monmouth Beach Police Station, and financed the construction of a new municipal library. He constructed approximately 40 homes in the town during the 1930s and 1940s, developed the Margaret Place area of town in the 1950s, and opened the Monmouth Sailing Center in town in 1963. Mr. Ross is survived by two sisters, Elinore Wenzel and Margaret R. Shippy, both of Monmouth Beach; a niece, two great-nieces; and two great-great-nieces. A memorial service will be held June 12 at 7 p.m. at the Monmouth Beach Cultural Center, 128 Ocean Ave. The Flock Funeral Home, Long Branch, is in charge of arrangements. Helen Tylor Seaman

Mrs. Seaman, 91, of Spring Lake, died May 31 at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Long Branch. One of 15 children, she was born in Perth Amboy and resided there until 2004, when she moved to the Spring Lake Inn. Before her marriage of 61 years, Mrs. Seaman worked for the Perth Amboy Cigar Factory. She was an expert seamstress and member of the Garment Workers of America. Her former employment was at Holbrook Hat Factory, Perth Amboy, Komar's Ladies Lingerie, South Amboy, and the Girls' Coat Factory, Perth Amboy. She was a lifetime member of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, Perth Amboy, and a past member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Perth Amboy, where she served as senior regent. Mrs. Seaman was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Stephen Seaman, in 1998; and two grandsons, Gregory Williams in 1985 and Jeffrey Williams in 2003. She is survived by four children, Nancy Seaman Williams and her husband, Jack, of Marlboro, Barbara A. Seaman of Alexandria, Va., Andrew Warren Seaman and his wife, Barbara Garcia Seaman, of Spring Lake, and Cheryl Seaman Kinnelly and her husband, Bill, of Fair Haven; three brothers, Edward Tylor of Hopelawn, and Joseph and Frank Tylor and his wife Lucille, all of Perth Amboy; two sisters-in-law, Terry Tylor and Claire Tylor; nine grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro.
