On Campus
Caldwell (N.J.) College, announced the following local students named to the dean’s list for the fall semester:
Mark Kelly of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, a senior;
Christina Zambrano of West Long Branch, a senior; and
Ashley Cusack, a freshman, and Troy DeSantis, a junior, both of Long Branch.
Jennifer Falco, West Long Branch, was recently named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Belmont University, Nashville, Tenn. A music business major, she is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David Falco.
Mary Ellen Kelly, Long Branch, has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at the School of Communications and Theater at Temple University, Philadelphia, where she was also named as a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
West Long Branch resident Alicia S. Ostrow has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Albright College, Reading, Pa. A graduate of Shore Regional High School, West Long Branch, she is a junior majoring in sociology/elementary education/family studies.
Ashley Chianese, Monmouth Beach, a junior at Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, Pa., has been selected to take part in the Sigmund Weis School of Business’ London program during the spring semester. The program is designed to provide students with an experience to develop and expand learning capabilities and broaden perspectives about possible careers. A marketing major at the university, Chianese is a 2003 graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School, and daughter of Becki and Art Chianese.
Katharine E. Kerber, Long Branch, received a bachelor of arts degree in English at the winter commencement exercises at Boston (Mass.) University.
M. Lisbeth “Lizzie” Blaisdell of Long Branch received a master of science degree from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the winter commencement exercises at the University of California, Berkeley. She also received the American Institute of Steel Construction, Structural Steel and Education Council and Nevada Fellowship this past year. She received her bachelor’s degree in structural engineering, with high honors at Princeton University, where she was also the recipient of the David W. Carmichael Prize for Civil and Environmental Engineering. A graduate of Marine Academy of Science and Technology, Sandy Hook, where she was valedictorian, she is the daughter of Frank and Lynn Blaisdell of Long Branch, and Jennifer and James Scisco of Wall Township.
Kyong Il Lee, Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y., where she is a freshman majoring in film.
Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison, has named the following local students to the dean’s list for the fall semester:
Rachel Morrison of Long Branch; and
Melissa Mazza of Ocean.
And, the following students were named to the university’s honors list, with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher:
Matt Cushing of Ocean Township; and
Melissa Somers of West Long Branch.
The National Honor Roll, Lynbrook, N.Y., recently announced the names of local high school students named to the National Honor Roll for the spring 2005 semester. Induction is based on academic performance, and only students with a B or better average are eligible for the Honor Roll. Local inductees are:

Ryan Krant was recently named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at the School of Management at Syracuse (N.Y.) University, where he is a double major in accounting and finance. A 2003 graduate of Manalapan High School, he is the son of Robin Krant of Monroe Township, and Howard Krant of Monmouth Beach.
Stephanie Kovach, Tinton Falls, was recently named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Wagner College, Staten Island, N.Y.
Jared Pienkos, Fair Haven, was recently named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Hamilton College, Clinton, N.Y. A graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, Rumson, he is the son of Patricia and Jeffrey Pienkos of Fair Haven.
Lafayette College, Easton, Pa., has named the following local student to the dean’s list for the fall semester:
Azad Assadipour of Eatontown, a member of the class of 2006.
The University of Scranton, Scranton, Pa., has named the following local student to the dean’s list for the fall semester:
Krystan K. Silva of Eatontown, a sophomore majoring in human resources studies.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y., has named the following students from the Wayside section of Ocean Township to the dean’s list for the fall semester:
Scott R. Lipton, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering, and
Patricia A. Rodziewicz, a senior majoring in aeronautical engineering and mechanical engineering.
Long Branch residents Cesar Leon Jr. and Jack Stovall Jr. were both recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship by First Atlantic, Eatontown. The scholarship is renewable for the next three years for a total of $4,000.
Leon, 18, is a graduate of Long Branch High School and Monmouth Vocational School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and the varsity soccer team. He will major in computers and electronics at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown. He is undergoing treatment for leukemia, and he and his family currently reside at The Ronald McDonald House, Long Branch, where he also volunteers his time.
Stovall, 18, is a graduate of Long Branch High School where he received the NAACP Academic Achievement Award, the 30th annual Barry Kamm Award for Academic and Athletic Achievement, Tuggle Award, and a member of the varsity football and track teams.
A National Honor Society member, he will attend either Montclair State University, Upper Montclair, or Kean University, Union.
He volunteers at his church and helps tutor children.
