Tours, support group meetings slated at center

Monmouth Medical Center, 300 Second Ave., Long Branch, will offer preoperative tours of its Cranmer Ambulatory Surgery Center March 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 3-4 p.m.

The free tours are for pediatric patients having a procedure at the center. Free tours of the Eisenberg Family Center for expectant mothers will be March 5 and 26 at 1:30 p.m. To register, call (732) 923-6525. Free tours of the radiation oncology department will be March 10 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. To register, call (732) 923-6462. The diabetes support group will meet March 15 from 7:30-9 p.m. “The Healing Power of the Drum” will be March 23 from 7-9 p.m. Psychotherapist Robert Lawrence will lead the program for cancer patients, which includes a discussion and demonstration of how simple hand rhythms can be used to attain well-being. The bariatric surgery support group will meet March 23 from 7-9 p.m. “Is the Medicare Prescription Drug Program Right for You?” will be March 30 from 10-11:30 a.m.

The free workshop will provide an overview of the Medicare prescription drug benefit, available options, and complimentary information kits. To register for either of the above, call 1-888-724-7123.

Literacy Fund’s wine tasting March 11

Susan’s Story — The Susan M. Hopkins-DiMeo Literacy Fund will hold its second annual wine tasting March 11 at 7 p.m. at Colts Neck Firehouse No. 2, Conover Road.

The event will feature various wines, hors d’oeuvres, a gift auction and jazz performed by the Gina Foxx Band. Tickets are $75 each. Proceeds benefit the Literacy Fund which makes grants to organizations that emphasize on literacy programs.

Drifters Inc. to host luncheon, fashion show

The nonprofit Ocean Chapter of Drifters Inc. will sponsor a luncheon and fashion show March 11 at Gibbs Hall, Fort Monmouth, Eatontown. Doors will open at 11:20 a.m., followed by lunch at noon. Fashions will be provided by Karen’s Boutique, Spring Lake.

The chapter will also present high school seniors with scholarships, and talk show hostess Wendy Williams will present the second annual Wendy Williams’ Scholarship. A native of Ocean Township, Williams hosts a New York City-based afternoon radio show. The scholarship is for an internship at WBLS, New York.

Group sponsoring bingo, trip to A.C., craft show

The Italian American Men’s Association (IAMA) will hold bingo beginning March 3 at 7:30 p.m. at its facility, 195 West End Ave., Long Branch. Estimated prize money will be $2,000. For more information, call (732) 222-9750.

The Ladies Auxiliary will sponsor a bus trip to Harrah’s Hotel and Casino, Atlantic City, 2-11 p.m. March 4. The cost is $22, with an $18 cash return. No alcoholic beverages will be permitted on the bus. For reservations, call Susan at (732) 870-1397 or (732) 870-1440.
