George W. Hock

Mr. Hock, 83, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, died Feb. 14 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Irvington, he had resided in Newark and in Middletown before moving to Port Monmouth. Mr. Hock was a sheet metal worker with Sheet Metal Workers Local 25, Carlstadt, for 40 years, retiring in 1987. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the D-Day invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Port Monmouth. Mr. Hock was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa Hock, in 1977. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Smith Hock; three sons, Donald Hock of Middletown, George Hock of Andover, and Glenn Hock of Eatontown; a daughter, Deborah Scarangello of the Belford section of Middletown; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.

Clarissa J. Perucca

Mrs. Perucca, 71, of Eatontown, died Jan. 31 at home. She was a volunteer at LDS Family History Center, Eatontown. She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eatontown. Mrs. Perucca served as a leader, trainer and neighborhood chairperson for the Girl Scouts for several years, and received the Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts’ Hidden Heroine and Community awards. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Perucca is survived by her husband, James Perucca; a son, Douglas Perucca of Carlsbad, Calif.; a daughter, Loretta Rose of Orem, Utah; a brother, David Kinnaman of Spring, Texas; two stepsons; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Interment was at Ogden City Cemetery, Ogden, Utah. The Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown, was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Evelyn “Evie” Verange

Mrs. Verange, 90, of Middletown, died Feb. 16. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had resided in Monmouth Beach and other Monmouth County towns before moving to Middletown. She was an active member of the Holmdel Fire Auxiliary and the Red Bank Elks. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Beth Verange of North Andover, Mass., and Philip and Susan Verange of Little Silver. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.
