Area students to star in

Brianna Spahn, Monmouth Beach, will student direct and serve as stage manager; Sara Bellin, Rumson, will portray Little Becky Two Shoes”; and Jen Therrien, Little Silver, will portray one of “The Rich” in the Peddie School production of “Urinetown.”

The Broadway play will be Feb. 16-18 at 8 p.m. at the school’s Mount-Burke Theater, Hightstown. Also in the cast, as “Cop 3,” is Samantha Xenis, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick. Tickets are $10 each.

The Monmouth Beach Emergency Medical Services will sell roses for Valentine’s Day at the first aid squad building on Beach Road on Sunday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the squad’s equipment fund.

Eatontown’s Memorial School will host its 34th annual Italian dinner, featuring ziti and homemade meatballs tomorrow night between 5 and 7 p.m inside the school’s all-purpose room. The school is located at 7 Grant Ave.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children age 10 and under. Tickets can be purchased at the door or from any Memorial School student. The dinner is open to all. The Eatontown Public Library, 33 Broad St., will hold a used book sale starting next Monday and running through Feb. 28. New and used books, videos, magazines, compact discs, books on tape and more will be sold at the library. For more information, contact the library at (732) 389-2665.

“America’s Boating Course” will be offered by Flotilla 26 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary between 7 and 10 p.m. on March 7, 14 and 21 at the Monmouth Beach Cultural Center, 128 Ocean Ave. in Monmouth Beach.

The cost is $55 per person which includes the text book. Individuals successfully completing this course will be eligible to receive their New Jersey Boating Safety Certificate, which is mandatory for operators of personal watercraft as well as possible discounts on boat insurance. The Fort Monmouth Reuse Committee (FMRC) is scheduled to hold its next monthly meeting on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. at Eatontown Borough Hall, 47 Broad Street, in the council chambers on the second floor.

Committee members voted at their last meeting on Jan. 20 to move the regular meetings from the third Friday of the month to the fourth Tuesday at 7 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.
