A Long Branch man is facing charges for an alleged sexual assault on a female victim in Asbury Park.

Glenn Rogers, 36, was arraigned last week on charges of sexual assault by physical force and a diseased person committing an act of sexual penetration for an incident that occurred on an Asbury Park Beach in May, according to a press release from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

According to reports, the victim was seen running on the beach at 4:30 a.m. wearing no clothes when she flagged down a Neptune Township Patrol Officer.

The victim reported that she had been sexually assaulted under the boardwalk and later identified Rogers as her attacker. According to police, he was found near the scene of the assault.

The victim was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where she was examined, treated and released later that morning, according to reports.

Investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit and the Asbury Park Police Department revealed that Rogers was infected with human immune deficiency virus when he committed the sexual assault, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.

Rogers entered a plea of not guilty and the next court date is scheduled for Nov. 7. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Maria M. Franceschini of the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit.

The sexual assault charge, a second degree crime, carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison subject to the no early release act. If convicted, Rogers would have to serve 85 percent of his sentence for that crime before being eligible for parole, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.

The second count, a third degree crime, carries a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison.
