Allen M. Nicas, M.D. Allen M. Nicas, M.D., 84, of Long Branch, died Sept. 2 at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was born in New York City. He established his private general practitioner practice in Long Branch, in 1950, and was on the staffs at Monmouth Memorial Hospital, Long Branch, (Monmouth Medical Center), and Fitkin Hospital (Jersey Shore University Medical Center), Neptune. He was also an Emeritus at Monmouth Medical Center. He served with the U.S. Army Medical Corps in Korea from 1946-68, attaining the rank of captain. He was a member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Asbury Park. He was a member of the American Medical Association and received the Golden Merit Award for 50 years’ distinguished service from the Medical Society of New Jersey. He was a member of the Friends of the Long Branch Free Public Library, and Elberon Horticultural Society. He is survived by his wife, Alice Angelos Nicas; and two children, Effie and Peter. A funeral service was held at St. George’s church, followed by interment at St. George Cemetery, Neptune. Arrangements were by Woolley Funeral Home, Long Branch.
