Community Bulletin Board R.B. Chamber music society opens 7th season

The Red Bank Chamber Music Society will present its seventh season of concerts on Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. at a new location, St. Anthony’s Church, 121 Bridge Ave., Red Bank. The series was begun to provide free concerts for lovers of chamber music and new listeners – especially children. The schedule is:

Sept. 24, music for violin and piano by Janacek, Franck, Mozart.

Nov. 5, Rachmaninoff Piano Trio, Beethoven Cello Sonata, Mozart Violin Sonata.

Jan. 14, Schumann Piano Quartet, Schubert Arpeggione for Viola.

March 11, Brahms Piano Quintet, Brahms String Quartet

April 22, Schubert Octet, Beethoven Septet.

Ticket requests should be limited to immediate family, and two adult tickets and unlimited children’s tickets will be sent. To obtain tickets, send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Monmouth Conservatory of Music, 200 Broad St., Red Bank 07701 no earlier than 30 days and no later than 10 days prior to the concert.

Tickets should be ordered for each concert and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Orders should include a telephone number. If the tickets are not going to be used, ticket holders are asked to call the conservatory so that others can use the tickets. A donation is requested to cover the expense of presenting the concerts.

Applications open for preservation grants

Applications for the Monmouth County Historical Commission’s 2006 Preservation Grant Program are now available According to Randall Gabrielan, executive director, candidates that are eligible for grants are nonprofit organizations and municipalities that are undertaking preservation projects on historic structures.

A copy of the application may be requested at (732) 431-7413, or e-mail to historian@co.monmouth.nj.us. To help with the process, a brief grants workshop will be held on Monday, Sept. 26, at 5 p.m. in the Freeholders Meeting Room, Hall of Records, second floor, 1 East Main St., Freehold.

Italian American Assoc. meeting, dinner Sept. 28

The Italian American Association of Monmouth County will resume its general meetings Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Anna’s Italian Kitchen, 1686 Route 35 south, Middletown. Guest speaker will be Fred Neimann, chairman of the Republican Party of Monmouth County. Membership is not required to attend. Dinner cost is $30. Annual membership fee is also $30. Support groups, baby fair at center during October

Monmouth Medical Center, 300 Second Ave., Long Branch, will hold meetings of the “Positive and Beautiful” support group Oct. 4 and 18 at 11 a.m.

The group is for women diagnosed HIV positive. Registration is required and may be done by calling Xiomara at (732) 923-7138. “Surgical Options for Weight Loss” will be presented by Frank J. Borao, M.D., Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. To register, call 1-888-724-7123. The “Mother to Mother” support group will meet Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 10-11:30 a.m.

Pediatric preoperative tours for pediatric patients having a surgical procedure at Cranmer Ambulatory Surgery Center will be Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 3-4 p.m. To register, call (732) 923-6525. A tour of the Eisenberg Family Center will be Oct. 9 at 1:30 p.m. A tour of the radiation oncology department will be Oct. 14 at 2:30 p.m. A baby fair will be Oct. 23 from 1-3 p.m. and feature tours of the Eisenberg Center and nursery, free gifts, refreshments and information from the center’s specialist.

Health programs offered at SCAN during October

Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, will offer a program breast health and breast self exams Oct. 19 from 1-3 p.m. at SCAN Learning Center, Monmouth Mall, Eatontown.

The program is in observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness month during October, and is free to SCAN members. An American Cancer Society representative demonstrate the proper technique for the self exam.

“Depression: Recognizing the Signs and Seeking Treatment” will be presented Oct. 26 from 1-3 p.m. by Michele Amate of Monmouth’s psychiatric services. The program will explore signs and symptoms of depression and treatment options.
