Albert S. Hunt Jr.

Mr. Hunt, 69, of Keyport, died Sept. 11 at Jersey Shore University Hospital, Neptune. Born in Perth Amboy, he resided there before moving to Keyport 22 years ago. Mr. Hunt was vice president at Universal Filters, Asbury Park, for eight years. Prior to that, he was employed at Refilco Filters, Perth Amboy, and Purolator Filters, Rahway and Edison. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 23 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 15051, both Keyport. He is survived by his wife, Joan Matthews Hunt; three daughters, Donna Hunt-Dutka of Edison, Lori Maurer of Clermont, Fla., and Susan Farnsworth of Long Branch; two stepdaughters, Dana Amaral of Los Angeles and Tara Kuty of Tully, N.Y.; a stepson, Robie Havens of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Maryann Hunt of Orlando; and eight grandchildren. A funeral service was held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Perth Amboy, followed by interment at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. The Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge, was in charge of arrangements.

Mildred C. Vassallo

Miss Vassallo, 90, of Long Branch, died Aug. 26 at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care, Long Branch. Born in Jersey City, she resided there prior to moving to Long Branch in 1961. She was a retired administrative assistant at Lipton Tea, Englewood Cliffs, where she was employed several years. She was a communicant of and member of the Altar Rosary Society at Our Lady Star of The Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus Council No. 325, Long Branch. She was predeceased by her brothers, Charles Vassallo and Louis Vassallo; and a sister, Marie Vassallo. She is survived by one niece and one nephew; and three great-nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Star of the Sea Church. Entombment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
