Animal lovers are invited to leash-up their precious pooch and join hundreds of other animal lovers on Oct. 1 at Marine Park in Red Bank from 8:30 a.m. to noon for the Monmouth County SPCA’s Annual Pet Walk & Fair. Once again, Dr. Brian Voynick, from NEWS 12 New Jersey’s Pet Stop, is the event’s chairman, and Red Bank Veterinary Hospital renewed their corporate partnership for the event this year.

Dogs only are welcome in the park. A minimum pledge of $25 is required to participate and entitles you to a Pet Walk commemorative bandana. Those raising a minimum of $50 will also receive a T-shirt.

Participants can walk the optional 1-mile course (with or without a dog) through downtown Red Bank, or relax in the park to the music of The Wag, browse the merchandise of our many pet-related vendors, enjoy canine demonstrations, pet caricatures, purchase digital pictures of pet, the ever popular doggie wedding chapel, clowns, face painting and much more.

Food and beverages will be provided by Zebu Forno, Red Bank, All Things Cranberry, Monmouth Beach and Chick-fil-A, Monmouth Mall.

Prizes for top fund-raisers include: airline tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S. with three nights in a Hilton Hotel. Winners of contests for the best costume, best ball catcher & best vocal performance receive great prizes as well!

All proceeds benefit the animals at the Monmouth County SPCA, a not-for-profit organization that relies on donations from the public to help care for thousands of homeless, abused and abandoned animals every year. Call (732) 542-2030 for more information or to obtain a brochure.

Information sessions at college Sept. 14, Oct. 5

Brookdale Community College will hold two information sessions for students interested in its fall term Sept. 14 and Oct. 5 from noon-2 p.m. and 4-6 p.m.

The term runs Oct. 6-Dec. 17. Sessions will be at the college’s administrative center at Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown. For information, call (732) 224-1857. “Free Foreign Film Fridays” will begin Sept. 30, with “Lovers of the Arctic Circle.” Films are at 7 p.m. in room 100 of the NAS building. The Spanish film has English subtitles and is rated “R.” It tells the story of two children who meet by chance and form a bond that sees the children through various trials and coincidences.

‘Brookdale Undercover’ at college through Oct. 7

Brookdale Community College, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown, is exhibiting “Brookdale Undercover” by staff and faculty through Oct. 7.

The collection of fiberarts will include hand dyed and printed wall hangings, hand-dyed fabrics, floor cloths and a selection of quilts.

It will be exhibited at the center for visual arts.

Local featured exhibitors are Eileen Lengyel, senior office assistant, Brick; Dana McKay, graphic artist (retired), Eatontown; Virginia Lee, professor, Fair Haven; Claire Berg, professor, and Robin Hafen, administrator, Howell; Marianne Drake and Pam Quatse, supervisors, Morganville; Colleen Lineberry, associate professor, Ocean; Carey Fox, associate professor, Red Bank; and Suzanne Thomas (former) computer graphics adjunct, Tinton Falls.
