The Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club’s Special Olympics Sailing program will hold its graduation and awards ceremony Aug. 16.

The Great Ga-Zee-Boat of Oceanport (www.riverboatservices.com/) has donated its services to host the event with a river cruise for the athletes, their families and the sailing coaches. The all-volunteer program gives the Special Olympics athletes, who have special needs, the opportunity to learn various aspects of sailing, including safety, taking the helm, knot-tying and tacking. Members of AHYC as well as other community members donate their time and boats for the program. Six athletes participated in the program this year and will receive awards for their achievements.
