Conservatory founder touched many lives
The Monmouth Conservatory of Music mourns the sudden passing on July 30 of Felix Molzer, the conservatory’s founder, artistic director and director emeritus.
Mr. Molzer touched the lives of so many people and was loved and admired by all. His musical genius, irrepressible humor and generous spirit will be greatly missed.
The conservatory had its start 40 years ago in the Molzer’s home in Little Silver before moving to studios in downtown Red Bank and then to its current location at 200 Broad St.
Throughout the Conservatory’s long history, Mr. Molzer was an active and dynamic presence, freely sharing his musical talents with the community as teacher and mentor.
His love for music and for people has inspired hundreds of students of all ages and abilities, many of whom have gone on to pursue successful careers in music.
In this time of grief, we commit to honoring in every way possible “Maestro” Felix Molzer’s passion for playing, composing, and teaching music and his lifelong dedication to the high standard of music education on which the Monmouth Conservatory was founded.
We extend the deepest sympathy to his wife, Jeannette Ballantine Molzer, and their family.
In accordance with the wishes of the family, a memorial service for Felix Molzer will be held at a later date, to be announced.

Bike lanes hailed, bike paths still needed
Thank you, borough of Deal, for the beautiful bicycle lane you added on both sides of Ocean Boulevard! I ride along this road every day, winter and summer, and especially with all the clueless SUV drivers there in the summer I appreciate the alert it gives them.
Now, Mayor (Adam) Schneider, where are the bicycle paths we were promised in the new developments (such as Pier Village) that closed Ocean Avenue from Melrose Terrace to Seven Presidents Park? All I see as I go north on Ocean Avenue is a “Do Not Enter” sign and no hint of a bike path.
There’s a couple of blocks of one along Ocean Boulevard, but then it disappears. We need those bike paths that the developers agreed to, and it’s your job to see to it that they build and signpost them!
